About Atrium

Although Atrium has now been converted into new Kith stores, this retail space in the meatpacking district of New York City used to be a hotbed for selvedge denim and high-street couture for Hollywood A-listers. With Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Jay-Z reportedly seen as customers this store was a hit with celebrity culture, even before the likes of Hypebeast. Opened in 1994 by Ben-Avraham, Atrium was in expansion mode in 2006, announcing plans to expand its store base. With collaborators including menswear impresario Nick Wooster, who was brought on board in 2013.

The Project

A commissioned piece for the Atrium line “Real eyes Realize”, this bespoke one-off artwork was designed using over 200+ hand-pressed flowers. The hand-picked and pressed flowers were arranged into a skull with petal teeth, providing a commentary of the cycle of life and the beauty of the natural world we all belong to. Intricate symmetry and delicate construction this collage artwork ran the lines at NYFW alongside a host of other amazing artists.
